GasTrainer
Gas DETECTION & HAZMAT RESPONSE TRAINING IS NOW HANDS-ON
GasTrainer™ gives your trainees the hands-on experience of using a gas meter without creating an actual hazard. The GasTrainer detects the simulated gas cloud created by the GasSource emitters. An instructor positions the GasSource emitters and selects a “gas” to simulate: LEL, Oxygen, Hydrogen Sulfide or Carbon Monoxide. The reading on the student unit automatically responds, detecting the simulated gas and alarming when pre-set levels are reached.
Set the scene with the HazMat Placard Kit which includes a full set of DOT placards and the NFPA diamond. Expand your training with HazardTank™ and Leaking Propane Tank, compressed gas cylinder props that create an electronic hissing noise when the valves are opened.
How It Works
Instead of detecting actual gasses, the GasTrainer reads the signals generated by the GasSource emitters and displays levels accordingly. The closer the trainee is to the GasSource emitter, the stronger the “gas” concentration. Place the GasSource emitters to create a point source leak, a saturated room, a large outdoor plume, or any combination of scenarios. This technology allows you to quickly create full scale HazMat scenarios without releasing any gasses or depleting any sensors.
Example Scenarios
- While trainees attempt to find the source of Carbon Monoxide in a boiler room, the %LEL reading begins to rise signaling a potential gas leak and explosion hazard.
- Trainees monitor a confined space operation as the oxygen level begins to drop.
- A leaking compressed gas tank creates a high %LEL environment, signaling an explosion hazard.
- A report of an unknown odor becomes a hazardous materials incident when hydrogen sulfide is detected.
GasTrainer package
The GasTrainer package includes three different GasSource emitters with high and low strength settings to create a variety of training scenarios. The package comes with a student gas meter, as well as an instructor unit that allows the trainer to observe what that student unit is doing. Using the handheld instructor unit, a trainer can set alarm levels, adjust the “gas” being monitored, and even manually increase or decrease gas readings to provide additional training challenges. A detachable sampling wand allows students to meter confined spaces or to search for gas sources in limited access areas. A rugged carrying case and recharge accessories provide everything you need to start your training.
Hazmat Training Props
